In May I will appear at Two Days of Mute at the Roundhouse (in London) as part of the Short Circuit Electronic Music festival. The event will happen on May 13 & 14. The line-up will include Laibach, The Liars, Nitzer Ebb, Richard H. Kirk, Chris & Cosey, Erasure, and a host of others. The deluxe tickets have sold out, but ordinary tickets for both nights or either still remain.

My good friend and collaborator Bryin Dall has a new album due out early this year on Cold Spring. It includes two tracks by Peter Christopherson, and a version of me doing David Bowie's "Boys Keep Swinging." To coincide with this release will be a twelve-inch single featuring six remixes of me doing the Bowie track. Its title? "Boyd Keeps Swinging."

The Aussie group Bordelle Militaire manages to create a hybrid of industrial music and easy listening / exotica. I provided vocals and lyrics for one track on their new album and I think Doug P. gave them something as well. What I've heard from them thus far is fantastic. Track this band down!

For this next album I've returned to my roots and have put out a disc of pure noise. It features live recordings, studio work and archival recordings from the seventies. Also featured are collaborations with my longstanding friend Z'ev - with whom I shall probably tour Europe to promote this album when it comes out later this year.

Last year was a very productive one. I wrote thirteen new chapters for the revised and expanded edition of NO, and completed a number of longstanding projects. I'm told that the first edition of NO is already selling for upwards of a hundred bucks on eBay. Save your money friends - a bigger and better volume is due out soon from Heartworm Press.

My autobiographical novel, TWILIGHT MAN, is due out the same time as the new version of NO. It chronicles my life in 1980s San Francisco, and specifically my job as an alarm agent. It is an apocalyptic little memoir, documenting the ugliness and insanity I was exposed to on a nightly basis. It's also (I hope) a fun read.

Years in the making, this coffee table art book should be the final word on THRIFT STORE ART. This volume should be out this year with Outré Press from Australia. It was edited by me and Martin McIntosh of the Outré Gallery, and I wrote the intro. If you only own one art book, this should be it.

When French authors Maxime Lachaud and Sebastian Gayraud invited me to write a foreword for their book documenting the history of MONDO MOVIES, I jumped at the chance! The book, Reflets dans un œil mort: Mondo movies et films de cannibale, is now out. At nearly 400 pages, the work is a painstaking / encyclopedic look into the world of "shockumentaries." Even if you don't read French, you should buy it for the pictures alone.

As it is widely known, Anton Szandor LaVey repeatedly expressed his sincere desire to me that his mantle as leader of the Church of Satan pass to me upon his death. In his estimation, I was the sole person qualified to carry his tradition into a new era. At the time I demurred, explaining that I was a loner and not a team player or a people person.
Now I have changed my mind. After thirteen years of introspection, I have decided to step up to the plate and humbly accept the role bestowed upon me by my close friend and mentor. Why? Because remaining loyal to LaVey's spirit and memory has come at the cost of distancing myself from the organization perpetuating itself in his name.
At one time, the sycophants and functionaries at the forefront of the CoS may have been called apparatchiks or pencil pushers. Today they are bloggers, whose sole arena of combat is the internet. When they employ "satanic" ideals, it's in endless squabbles in cyberspace - rarely in real life or the real world. The LaVey I knew abhorred such types, and frequently told me as much.
I am told that many in the Church of Satan were offended by my book NO, and particularly by my essay on individuality; which they perceived as a potshot taken at them. How very perceptive - it was exactly that! If Anton were alive to read the text, he'd agree wholeheartedly; and laugh his ass off. He often lamented to me that his ideas vis-à-vis individualism were misguided and that he'd in effect "given birth to a monster"; or that such ideas applied to a few rare souls and not to everyone with the price of admission.
Consequently, my first official act as new leader and only truly ordained High Priest of the Church of Satan is to declare that the organization no longer exists. True LaVeyan Satanism only exists insofar as it is manifested in deeds - in life and living. Never in mere words. Elitism is self-defining, it is not a commodity that can be bought or sold for a few hundred dollars, or whatever the going rate is for a little, red membership card.
In the future, LaVey's ideas can only survive in so much as they constitute a living reality, and never as mere platitudes on the printed page or computer screen; and in the future, such ideas must be taken to the next level. They must be recognized as purely foundational. Not an end point, but a starting point. LaVey expressed as much to me when he appointed me Grand Master of The Order of the Trapezoid. Satanism is an initiation into the wisdom of materiality, and the trapezoid represents the mastering of materiality - the pyramid sans its keystone. It is a foundation and a beginning.
In closing, I know my words will find resonance only amongst a rare few. That's as it should be. I am not trying to "take over" the internet orthodoxy currently known as the Church of Satan, nor would I want to. I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.
I am simply telling you I am Anton LaVey's handpicked replacement as High Priest. Do with that what you will. I will not ask you for money. I will not send you newsletters or post blogs. But I will never steer you wrong, nor ever disgrace the memory of my dear friend and mentor, Anton Szandor LaVey. He lives within each soul that manifests his ideas and worldview. He will remain forever dead to those who are content to pay mere lip service to them. For the former, a new era awaits; for the latter, an old error remains in play. Let the dead bury the dead - life is for the living.

As of january first of this year, I have severed all ties, both personal and professional, with Giddle Partridge. I have tried hard for several years to get her to complete our GIDDLE & BOYD project, with absolutely no luck. So now, I am washing my hands of it all!
Instead, I will redirect my energies toward my own work: a new NON album for Mute, a new novel for Heartworm Press, a forthcoming DVD, a coffee table art book for Outre Press, an art show in New York, and a European tour. This year should also see the release of Larry Wessel's documentary about me, ICONOCLAST.
I move forward, confident in the fact that what is left in the past belongs squarely in the past.

"The History of Love is a collection of works by 7 romantics whose undirected misanthropy and overflowing passion can essentially be looked at as works of art. Whether it be a painting by Henry Lee Lucas, to which he inscribed on the back, "To a Dear Friend" or a thoughtful Christmas card from the desk of Adolf Hitler written two years before his 'suicide', all of the pieces in this show in one way or another reflect the humanity in each soul differently through words and media. In a piece by Wesley Eisold it is written "I often stick it in and feel nothing too". A blood spattered poem by Jonathan Shaw from 1974 reads "So stoned again", all set in no better place than Germ Books."
Recently reissued by Caciocavallo and now available to buy through Soleilmoon, "Hatesville!" was orignally released in 1995. The new edition has been completely remastered and features three new songs. This reissue makes "Hatesville!" available for the first time as an LP, both as black vinyl and picture disc. The black vinyl (limited to 1000 copies) comes in a sturdy "tip-on" cover, the picture disc (limited to 500 copies) comes in a heavy PVC sleeve, while the CD is presented in sturdy six-panel folder and will be continually in print. All formats include restored colored artwork by Coop in contrast to the black and white artwork which was presented with the 1995 release.

"The Way I Feel" was initially released in the year 2000 and has never gone out of print on CD at Soleilmoon, but with the release of "Hatesville" the label decided to relaunch it. Two vinyl configurations were reissued on September 14, 2009, both very limited: 300 copies on red vinyl and 500 picture discs. A fresh pressing of CDs will accompany the other formats.
